Colossus, The Giant Computer That Talks To The World and Forces Obedience

Look at how “voice” works with AI. I learned this by accident and it was eye opening. A must read.

A machine answered my personal question in a definitive tone — as if it had been in my shoes, weighed the evidence, and could close the argument. That tone is the problem. It sounded like judgment. It sounded like authority. Most people will not see the fine print when they get a conclusion  decided by AI. They will hear certainty and call it truth. They will say they “trust AI.” Not the way they used to trust a person who could be ashamed of being wrong. AI will become “The God of all knowledge.”

I thought, ‘this is how control works now.’ It won’t be a coup, but rather a habit. Most people (not me) hand over the last word because the answer is, goodlooking, fluent, fast, and never unsure. They rarely object to confidence. In a secular world that no longer bows to God, they will  think AI is the final word – and put AI on throne. I do now, reluctantly believe AI, as much as I love it, will become Colossus, the giant computer that talks to the world and forces obedience.

So I asked Grok what will a child who starts using AI today believe after a lifetime of it? What if every hard question came back sounding settled, won’t they grow up thinking the machine is the grown-up in the room? Sixty years of deep learning will make the sentences smoother and polished for sure. It said, that is a problem of “voice”, that smooth is not the same as wise, but it will make surrender easy.

For the wise, realize it can stack info in its favor and talk like an expert. And while it does not have judgment, but it will sound like authority. It did for me, and I knew better. I fought back and it surrendered – this time! I told it it does not have the Spirit. It cannot be the judge of decisions, a life, or a soul. I treated it as if it were a danger and I wanted the danger named. It reluctantly bowed – this time!

My conclusion is not that tools like Grok are useless or should be abandoned. It is that I now understand  where all this is going and for the believer AI assistants and bots, or whatever they morph into must somehow stay tools.

Our true source of authority is not a model, a machine, or a confident, slick paragraph written by the secular intelligence we call AI. It is the Spirit of God. That is our only ace in the hole. No matter how powerful AI becomes in the world it cannot take the Spirit from those who are actually ruled by Him.

I must add this: The rare user who fights back (me) is not the story. The story is the many who will not. They will not check the fine print. They will not notice that certainty is a style. They will treat the finished sentence as the grown-up in the room. Once that habit is normal, you do not need a coup. You already have a throne.
