The myth of secularism is that we are our own gods, that everything depends on our own strength, our own will, and our one vote. It’s an arrogant lie that crushes us and puts an unbearable weight on our shoulders.
We are not the source of our greatness, our looks, our wealth, our humor – all our talents and blessings are gifts of grace.
Do you look at the gifts given to others and despise your own? Don’t look at what you lack, look at what you have been given.
Do you covet the visible gifts? The ones that bring applause, money, fame? Maybe your gift is teaching, preaching, administration, service, or exhortation. Maybe you have the supernatural ability to decern, show wisdom, listen and have patience, and show kindness. These quieter gifts are not of this world, God gives these through his Holy Spirit.
Are you listening? Stay with me! You will never be Taylor Swift and I will never be as manly as John Wayne or write like Hemmingway. GOD MADE ME BOB!
My faith is not made of statues. Nor do I depend on others to pat me on the back to get me through each day. Everything has been given to me by God, so I must give my best in return. My best is to live biblically and to live in gratitude! This is my meaning. This is the great gift of salvation. “He died so I might live!”
