The claim that the Un-American left is infused with Marxist ideology is a contentious one, but I have my reasons for saying so. Influenced by progressive thought, often anti-christian, many of my friends are unknowingly guilty of Marxist ideology. I suppose they don’t see their loyalties as extensions of their political party, just like they don’t see their hatred of Trump as bizzare and unforgiving. Their main excentricity is that, unlike their party leaders, my friends’ seldon emphasize systemic inequalities. Yet this is pretty much the whole business of the democrats these days.
Just about every issue is one of preceived inherent exploitation. Why else would a LGBTQ rainbow flag be raised at a Mets game? They actually did this today at the singing of the American National Anthem! Many on the American left, particularly in progressive and democratic socialist circles (e.g., figures like Bernie Sanders or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and that new guy in NY city), criticize corporate greed, wealth concentration, and systemic inequality. These always frame issues in terms of “the 1% vs the 99%. The billionaires against regular folks.”
Liberal policies like wealth, taxes, universal healthcare, welfare, free college, and student debt forgiveness echo Marxist concerns about capital accumulation, though they are mischievously framed within a reformist, not a revolutionary context. In fact, I never hear my friends echo these marxist ideologies, but they vote for them when they vote for democrats. They also never tell me of their own class struggles. They only tell me of those people they perceive to be struggling due to Trump and republican policies.
Their only solution is regime change and collective control of resources. In code, this means raising taxes and stealing our freedoms. My friends don’t realize that universal healthcare, medicaid, the Green New Deal, and business/government cooperative models are Marxist to the core. Collective solutions like government run grocery stores are outright Marxist. Democratic socialists have championed the new lable to make us think they’ve moved on from Marx and the old democrat party. Yet they still focus on workers’ rights, anti-God, anti-capitalism, and systemic changes that reflect Marxist influence. Think about “collective bargaining and worker empowerment.”
Think about critical race theory and intersectional frameworks. At their root is a Marxist focus on systemic oppression and power structures. Think about their assult on white men and that Sidney Sweeney advertisement. These frameworks adapt Marxist class struggles related to race and identity, framing society as a conflict between oppressors and oppressed. Now, let’s move on to Black Lives Matters and climate justice. Their critique is that greed and capitalism are the root causes of social and environmental issues. My liberal friends actually vote to have government intervene in our lives in these ways. This is the Democrat Party in part, if not the whole. It’s un-American.
