It’s getting harder and harder for me to stomach the headlines, especially in the early morning hours. I see this pattern in public figures and politicians—it’s glaringly evident in news accounts, from outright lies and power grabs to the tribal defenses that follow evil. Without a grounding in Christ, their actions scream selfishness and ideology unbound, twisting truth like pretzels to serve self and tribe. From a biblical lens, these aren’t just flawed human quirks; it’s the raw manifestation of fallen nature and, at its core, a direct tether to darkness. Let me break it down biblically, no sugarcoating.

Back in the Garden, Eve didn’t nibble the fruit for the flavor; she wanted the throne. Adam tagged along, and here we are! Without Christ regenerating the heart, our “moral compass” is a mirage—I see people ( friends, politicians, and media) justifying corruption because their core is rotten, twisting words to defend the indefensible: Like crime, and homeless camps, transgenderism and homosexuality, riots and marches, violence and assassination.

The left has no moral compass. For the right it works sometimes, but not always. It’s apparent as I read news media accounts that public figures and politicians without Christ, often say and do anything they want to oblige their selfish will and ideology. They’ll justify, twist, contort, and even get a defensive effort from their comrades. Why? Because Jeremiah 17:9 nails it: “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?”

There is a term I just because familiar with, “strategic truth.” Not truth itself grounded in biblical morality. But a truth played to the tune of strategy. This seems to be how life works these days for the unrighteous.

In John 8:44 jesus said to the Pharisees, “You belong to your father, the devil… He was a murderer from the beginning… When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” All I see in the news about Trump are shameless fabrications. Satan’s dialect has infiltrated the radical left. The god of this age has blinded the minds of these unbelievers, so they cannot see the light of the gospel.” It’s ideology over truth! Proverbs 27:6 says, “Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.” This defensive loyalty is flattery from hell!

There is no neutrality in politics and media. The left has an allegiance to the Accuser (Satan), the right to “religion,” not necessarily God. Our news media exposes their identities daily: scandals buried, lies amplified, all to protect the fallen elite.

There is an antidote! “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Without Jesus, renewal is impossible and leaders stay conformed to evil’s playbook. Scripture doesn’t mince words: the unregenerate are “children of wrath” (Ephesians 2:3), serving the prince of this world (John 12:31). But, Christ’s Spirit exposes the rot. Look at how Charlie Kirk did it! Look at how Chuck Colson was transformed by the Spirit.

If you are a believers, stay anchored in the Word; it cuts through the noise like a sword (Hebrews 4:12). If you are a political or cultural ideologue first, then you need Jesus. Anchor yourself to Him, and the contortions will crumble to dust.
