Leaving Florida

One more day, and we will be on our way to Sint Maarten. It’s not been the usual visit to see my mom and get my base tan on. She’s doing quite well for a gal 87 years young. Still, it’s hard to leave. We don’t talk a lot, at least not as much as she talks with Jackie. God surely made women for each other. Guys, get other benefits. They start taking at dawn and never stop till bedtime. Still, it’s a blessing to hear their voices, even if they never talk about fishing.

I can’t go on and on this time as I’ve got a few small chores to accomplish before we leave. Never do we know if this will be our last visit,  so I can’t leave unfinished a request from mom.She might haunt me if I do.

I’m the lucky one because my mom had me in the oven when she was just 18 yrs old. I’m 68, and not too many still have parents at this age. Young love paid off.

It’s not been all chores this time. In fact, we have also had a very pleasant time watching her Fox News as the Trump train rolls on. I don’t watch much TV. So it was actually nice to see the faces of some of these personalities, and we noticed how “diverse”  conservatives actually are.

Oh! I also learned that I come from royalty,  lol. You may not know this, but my stepfather adopted  me when I was eight years old. My birth name was Robert Montgomery, and I agreed to have it changed to Graham. My backward heritage is American,  Irish, Scotch, and French. You can look up the Roger de Montgomery line from France forward. How I relate to several famous Scotsman, Lord’s, and Earl’s are yet to be determined, but the line is well documented. I got as far back as Sir Hugh Montgomery, 1st Viscount Montgomery of the Great Ards (c. 1560 – 15 May 1636.  An Ulster Scotsman.  All interesting stuff, but my mommy is all that matters now.

Tomorrow is the Super Bowl, and then we leave on Monday. I hope you’re all having fun in the cold weather, lol. I’ll update you after we settle in on the island.
